Antique Wooden Compartmented Hardware / Parts Organizer Case with Hinged Lid – Early 1900s

Unusual antique wooden storage and sorting case dating to approximately the late 19th to early 20th century. The substantial rectangular case features a large hinged front/lid with an exterior wooden carrying or lifting handle. When opened, the interior reveals numerous individually divided wooden compartments arranged in rows for organizing small merchandise or parts.

The interior construction suggests commercial or workshop use, potentially as a hardware, watchmaker, jeweler, machinist, general-store, or traveling salesman’s sorting/sample case. Adjustable or removable wooden dividers allowed different-sized articles to be separated and readily accessed.

The case shows extensive genuine age and working character, including darkening, staining, scratches, oxidation around fasteners, and accumulated wear to the interior. The long metal piano hinge remains an interesting functional feature. The untouched surface and heavily used interior give it strong primitive/industrial decorative appeal.
