1892 Souvenir of Scotland: Its Cities, Lakes, and Mountains – T. Nelson & Sons – 120 Chromolithographic Views
Original late-Victorian illustrated travel volume published by T. Nelson and Sons, London, Edinburgh and New York, in 1892. The book contains 120 chromolithographic views of Scotland, depicting Edinburgh, Glasgow, Loch Lomond, the Trossachs, the Clyde, the West Highlands, Caledonian Canal, Perth, Braemar and other Scottish landmarks. Contemporary references confirm the 1892 edition and its 120-color-view format.
This example retains its attractive decorated cloth hardcover, with elaborate gilt, red, black and gray ornamentation and Scottish heraldic imagery. The cover shows age-related wear, rubbing and losses around the corners and edges, but the decorative gilt remains quite strong. Interior condition and completeness should be checked carefully because value depends heavily on whether all 120 chromolithographic views and the frontispiece remain present.
