Antique Japanese Awaji Pottery Vase
$189.00 USD
Late Meiji to early Taishō period (circa 1890–1920) Awaji pottery vase, featuring a sculpted pine tree in high relief against a dark aubergine-brown glaze. The contrasting unglazed red clay and raised design are distinctive of Awaji Island kilns, known for combining earthen tones with glossy overglazes. The impressed “JAPAN” mark indicates early export production for the Western market prior to 1921’s “Made in Japan” requirement.
