Vintage Set of 8 Hand-Painted Cast Metal African Warrior Toy Figures with Shields & Spears
$59.00 USD
Set of 8 vintage cast metal miniature warrior figures, each individually posed in running, fighting, or spear-throwing positions. Several figures carry hand-painted oval shields with geometric decoration, along with spears or other weapons.
The figures appear to be made from an older lead or similar cast-metal alloy and are painted in traditional toy-soldier style. Each stands on an integral rectangular base. The variation in poses and hand-painted details gives the group strong display appeal.
These resemble European-made colonial-era toy soldier figures, possibly from makers such as Britains, Crescent, Cherilea, Timpo, or a similar manufacturer, but I would not attribute them to a specific maker without seeing markings on the underside of the bases.
