Vintage 1982 Hawaiian Banana Bark Fiber Art – Signed Tropical Abstract Nature Collage

Unusual vintage Hawaiian fiber artwork created from the outer layers of a banana plant, using naturally occurring tones and textures rather than conventional paint.

The original typed label on the reverse explains that the banana plant material was dried, cut into strips, sorted by color, cleaned, cut, assembled, glued and pressed. The natural variations in the bark were then used to create the composition, with no painted color added.
