Pair of Antique Asian Lacquered Temple Jars
$125.00 USD
Pair of late 19th- to early 20th-century hand-painted temple jars with domed lids and pagoda finials. Crafted from lacquered composite or papier-mâché with a red and gold ground, featuring fine hand-painted bamboo and landscape motifs typical of Meiji- to early Taishō-era Japanese export decor. The angular, faceted form and burnished gilt accents reflect transitional Asian Art Nouveau styling. Marked underside “Not for Food Use” — likely added later for import compliance.
